David Wilbur
David began riding at the young age of six and steadily rode his way through the Short Stirrup and Maiden divisions and into the Medal/Maclay and Junior Jumpers. Early on he knew that he would spend the rest of his life in the saddle and make a life out of riding and training horses and their people. After qualifying for all of the prestigious junior equitation finals and graduating high school, David moved to Germany to ride and train under the tutelage of international horseman, Tjeert Rijkens. It was here that David began learning the ins and outs of the horse business while he earned valuable riding experience. After returning to the States, David worked for professional Michael Kirby, as his assistant trainer and sales/show rider.
Beginning in 2001, David had the opportunity to work and ride with veteran Grand Prix rider, Mark Jungherr. Assuming the position of assistant trainer and sales/show rider, he not only worked with a number of talented, young hunters and jumpers but also one of the most respected and accomplished horsemen in the United States. During his time with Jungherr, David qualified and rode customer and sale horses in the rated hunter divisions at the indoor fall horse shows and began riding in the bigger jumper classes including both Mini-Prix and Grand Prix events.
David and Maari were married in the Fall of 2005 and they moved to Connecticut to work at Folly Farm. At Folly, David developed many successful horses and riders while competing up and down the East Coast. After 9 great years of riding and training at Folly, David and Maari decided it was time to start their own business and Wilbur Show Stables was founded.

In April 2011, David completed the USHJA Trainer Certification Program.

In February 2013, David became an Antares sponsored rider.

In January 2018, David became a "R" Licensed US Equestrian Judge.

Maari Wilbur
Maari, an accomplished horsewoman in her own right, has worked in and around horses and show stables for most of her life. Before marrying David and moving to Folly Farm in 2005, Maari worked for Mark Jungherr, Emil Spadone, and Beezie Madden, ensuring that their horses were happy, healthy, and fit for competition. Maari brings this same commitment to Wilbur Show Stables as she manages the daily functions of the stable and works to keep all the horses at their best both at home and on the road. Together with her husband David, Maari enjoys watching their horses and students reach their highest potential.
